Police Said that in one road mishap least sixteen passengers were killed and fifty six others injured out of them thirteen critically wounded when an overloaded bus skidded off the road and fell into a 500-metre deep gorge near Bidda Jyoti Puram area in Reasi district early this morning.
The ill fated vehicle bearing registration No.6571/JK02E was on its way from Reasi to Mahore when its driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve at Bidda and the mishap occurred. On receipt of the information Police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. With hectic efforts they extricated bodies of dead and injured from the site of accident and rushed them to hospital where sixteen persons were declared as brought dead . The deceased have been identified as Abdul Aziz s/o Sultan r/o Bagga, Rubina Kousar d/o Bahadur Ali r/o Shikari, Mohd Iqbal s/o Bashir Ahmed r/o Dewal, Mukhtair Ahmed s/o Khushi Mohd r/o Dharmari, Ashok Singh s/o Lal Singh r/o Channa Kote, Rattan Singh s/o Bir Singh r/o Malas , Tripta Devi w/o Vaishno Gandotra r/o Reasi, Bashir Ahmed s/o Mohd Ismail r/o Kheral, Retu Devi d/o Prem Singh r/o Karuwa,Sanjeet Singh s/o Lal Singh r/o Salal , Fateh Mohd s/o Faji r/o Ind, Ghulam Rasool s/o Muneer r/o Dewal, Yamna Devi w/o Janki Devi r/o Garhi,Mohd Ashaq s/o Ghulam Rasool r/o Mahore, Mohd Shafi s/o Sain r/o Lancha and Angrez Singh s/o Punjab Singh r/o Maman Kote.
However, the Police and civil administration arranged the Chopper immediately and Air lifted the thirteen persons who suffered serious injuries to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment. Moreover, three injured have been shifted by road after giving the treatment at Reasi hospital. They have been identified as Deedar Singh,Suraj ,Delar Singh ,Mohd Ashaq,Gh.Hussain Haji, s/o Ali Mohd of JKAP 12 Bn. Gh.Mohd ,Gh.Mohd Abdul Gani,Sangaldhan, Bashir Ahmed s/o Sain Ahmed ,Javid Ahmed ,Onakr Singh s/o Baldev Singh r/o Channa,Shabib Din s/o Ghulam Mohd r/o Dhanore and Sansar Singh. The three injured who were refereed by road are Mohd Yousaf s/o Ghulam Rasool r/o Mahore, Babli Devi and minor child of 7 years namely Kaki .
In another road mishap five NCA personnel were killed while six others injured two of them critically, when a heavy military vehicle today rolled down into a gorge close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Keri sector of Rajouri district.
The injured were shifted to the Military Hospital Rajouri for treatment, however the condition of the two Jawans was stated to be critical.
Yet , in another accident one Major of 54 RR namely Basabt Gourav was killed while three NCA personnel namely Co. L.K.Chettri , Sepoy Antony and Sepoy V.K.Sharma suffered injuries when an Army vehicle bearing registration No. JK02E/2659 was on way from Chasana to Talwara met with an accident at Balshama Sunderbani under the jurisdiction of PS Sunder Bani early this morning. The injured were airlifted to MH Udhampur for treatment. The body of Major after completing all legal formalities have been shifted to his native village for last rites.
Meanwhile J&K Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdulla have expressed shock over the tragic road accidents that occurred near Bidda in Reasi district and in Keri sector of Rajouri district today, killing 22 passengers and injuring many.
In their condolence messages, NN Vohra and Omar Abdullah have expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the peace to the departed souls. They also wished speedy recovery to all injured in the accident, who have been already airlifted to Government Medical Collage Jammu for treatment.
The Chief Minister has also ordered the concerned authorities of Health Department for providing free medical treatment to all the injured, passengers.
Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has expressed shock over the tragic road accidents. In his condolence messages, Tara Chand has expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the peace to the departed souls. He also wished speedy recovery to all injured in the accident.
Minister for CAPD and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon and Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma have expressed shock over the tragic road accidents that occurred in district Rajouri and Reasi respectively today, killing several passengers and injuring many.
In their condolence messages, the Ministers have expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the peace to the departed souls. They have also wished speedy recovery to all injured in the accident.
Minister of State for Haj, Auqaf and Fisheries Ajaz Ahmad Khan has also expressed grief over the road accidents.
Former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti have expressed their grief over loss of human lives in a tragic road accidents that occurred in district Rajouri and Reasi respectively today.In a joint statement issued here today, PDP leaders expressed their grief over this tragic road accident and expressed heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families. PDP leaders while demanding adequte compensation for the families of those killed in the tragedy, asked the administration to provide adequate medical facilities to the injured. They further asked that admininstration to take some preventive steps to avoid reoccurance of such incidents in future.
