JK Governor,CM,other political figures greet people on Holi

Jammu, (Scoop News) –      J&K Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minster Omar Abdulla, Patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed and president of the party Mehbooba Mufti have greeted people on the eve of Holi, the festival of colours.

N. N. Vohra, Governor, has extended warm greetings to the people on Holi, and prayed that the festival of colours would be a harbinger of sustained peace, progress and prosperity in the State.

In his message of felicitations, the Governor observed that festivals are an important component of our rich cultural heritage which strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, love and amity. He expressed the hope that the coming Holi would spread happiness and joy all around and further promote harmony and brotherhood.

Wishing a happy Holi to the people, the Governor prayed for their well-being and prosperity.      

              Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has felicitated people on the occasion of Holi wishing them well being and happiness.

In his message issued here today, the Chief Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir possesses rich tradition of celebrating festivals and holy occasions in amity and brotherhood. He expressed the hope that this ethos of the State would get further strengthened.

Omar Abdullah prayed for peace, prosperity and progress of the State and the country on the occasion.

In a joint felicitation message, PDP leaders prayed that the festival of colour would harbinger an era of peace, tranquility and prosperity in the state.  

PDP leaders said that Jammu and Kashmir is famous for its rich tradition of celebrating festivals with communal harmony and brotherhood. They expressed the hope that the festival of color would spread happiness and joy all around.

It may be mentioned here that Holi is one of the major festivals of India, Holi is celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun which is the month of March as per the Gregorian calendar

Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘bad’. The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renew sweet relationships. On this day, people hug and wish each other ‘Happy Holi’.  Holi celebration begins with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi eve.

Numerous legends & stories associated with Holi celebration makes the festival more exuberant and vivid. People rub ‘gulal’ and ‘abeer’ on each others’ faces and cheer up saying, "bura na maano Holi hai". Holi also gives a wonderful chance to send blessings and love to dear ones wrapped in a special Holi gift.
