Jammu, (Scoop News) – J&K Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minster Omar Abdulla, Patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed and president of the party Mehbooba Mufti have greeted people on the eve of Holi, the festival of colours.
N. N. Vohra, Governor, has extended warm greetings to the people on Holi, and prayed that the festival of colours would be a harbinger of sustained peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
In his message of felicitations, the Governor observed that festivals are an important component of our rich cultural heritage which strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, love and amity. He expressed the hope that the coming Holi would spread happiness and joy all around and further promote harmony and brotherhood.
Wishing a happy Holi to the people, the Governor prayed for their well-being and prosperity.

Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘bad’. The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renew sweet relationships. On this day, people hug and wish each other ‘Happy Holi’. Holi celebration begins with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi eve.
Numerous legends & stories associated with Holi celebration makes the festival more exuberant and vivid. People rub ‘gulal’ and ‘abeer’ on each others’ faces and cheer up saying, "bura na maano Holi hai". Holi also gives a wonderful chance to send blessings and love to dear ones wrapped in a special Holi gift.
