Jammu, April 28 (Scoop News) – To work out modalities for curbing the menace of copying and ensure fair and transparent conduct of J&K Board of School Education examinations in the State, Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, convened a high level meeting of provisional officers of Education and Board of School Education here today.
The meeting was attended by Chairman, BOSE, Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta, Secretary, School Education G. A. Peer, Director School Education, Kashmir Mtr. Shugafta Parveen, Director, School Education, Jammu Mtr. Zahida Khan and other Members of Examination Committee.
The meeting held threadbare discussion on further improvement in the examination system.
Saying that unfair means mars the talent and hard work of brilliant students, besides having adverse impact on the society, the Minister directed to take all steps to restore the faith of students and parents on the examination system.
The Minister said that it is our duty to protect the interests and talent of the brilliant students and directed the officers and members of the examination committee to take all possible measures to curb menace of copying, paper leakage and other related incidents and ensure that the examinations are conducted in a fair manner.
The Minister asked the examination authorities and other educational officers to be more vigilant and careful to ensure fair conduct of examinations. “Anybody found violating the rules, regulations and instructions issued for smooth conduct of examinations will be strictly dealt under law”, the Minister added.
To revamp the examination system, Examination Committee of J&K State Board of School Education has taken various decisions including, safe custody and depositing of question papers in the J&K Bank, usage of temper proof envelops, circulation of three to four series of question papers in examination hall to avoid leakage of question paper, introduction of nine point grading system in Class 9th and 10th, strict vigil in the secrecy block, even CCTV with recording devices will be used in all sections of the board including strong room, secrecy block and code rooms and stopping of present manual code system and adoption of Bar Code system to reduce the human intervention and interference.
The Minister highly endorsed the recommendations presented by the Examination Committee and directed to implement the same in letter and spirit. He assured that he will extend all help to revamp the functioning of the board.
It was further decided that a high power committee of experts shall be framed by the Government to look into the whole system and to seek suggestions for its efficient working.
