In a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah it was decided that no programme which has the potential of vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in the state will be allowed.
The meeting reviewed the arrangements and directed that while the Republic Day should be celebrated with full fervor and enthusiasm, the elements who are bent upon disturbing the law and order should be dealt with sternly and the directions to this effect should be passed on to the district authorities as well.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Abdul Rahim Rather, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Surjeet Singh Slathia, Sham Lal Sharma, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Raman Bhalla, Advisor to the Chief Minister Mubarak Gul , Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana, Chief Secretary S.S. Kapur, Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda, Principal Secretary Home Department B.R. Sharma, Additional Director General of Police Law & Order K. Rajindra, IGP CID, B.Srinivasan and IGP Jammu Dilbag Singh.
The Chief Secretary S.S. Kapur and Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda briefed the meeting about the preparations made by the administration to ensure that the Republic Day celebrations pass off peacefully.
