Srinagar May 16 (Scoop News) –J&K Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Medical Education and Technical Education, R. S. Chib has said that coalition Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is determined to provide latest sports facilities to the sports lovers of the State, besides technical education through polytechnics and ITIs is being modernised to make youth able to face latest trends on National and International level.
The Minister was addressing a public meeting at Vantrag, Anantnag, during his extensive tour of the district.
Chib said that various concrete steps have been taken by the Government for modernising the Stadia and polytechnics of the State including ITIs by virtue of liberal funding by the Central Government.
Earlier the Minister accompanied by MLA, Pahalgam, Rafi Ahmed Mir and MLC, Mohammad Shafi inspected Government Middle School at Aru Pahalgam and took stock of the curricular and extra- curricular facilities available in the school.
Chib directed sports authorities accompanying him to depute physical education teacher and provide sports material including football, cricket, carrom, badminton and other sports items for the school as soon as possible so that the budding students would be groomed to become future sports persons of the State .
The Minister also inspected Women’s Polytechnic, Seer Hamdan and expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Institute. Chib directed the faculty of the Institute to replace the traditional courses with latest ones, so that the students concerned are benefitted with these courses to face challenges at global level. He directed JKPCCC authorities to speed up the construction work of the hostel and ensure its completion within a fortnight. Chib asked the Director Technical Education, Rather to earmark Rs. 10 lakh for construction of Library Block for the students of the Institute.
Chib went round the Rs. 45 lakh project of under construction stadium at Seer Hamdan and inspected the pace of work of the project. He asked Secretary, Sports Council to prepare project report for construction of retention wall and parking slot for the up- coming stadium.
Director General Sports, S. A. Leharwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Tak and Sectoral officers of the district accompanied the Minister.
