J&K Govt focused to upgrade blood banks across the state

 Jammu, February 26 (Scoop News) –  Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports Prof. R. S. Chib today said that Government is focused to upgrade the blood banks across the state. More attention is given to provide this facility in rural health institutions, he added.

Chib was speaking in the in the inauguration function of Blood Mobile Vehicle at Government Medical College, Jammu.  The Minister of State for Medical Education,  Javids Ahmad Dar was also present in function                Rs. 1.5 crore vehicles has been provided to Department of Blood Bank by The National Aids Control Organization. The vehicle possesses space for 4 beds of blood donors, examiner, micro wave oven, fridge and 4 freezers with capacity to store 300 blood bottles.

                Later, the Ministers inaugurated seminar on National Continuing Medical Education on Safe Blood Transfusion.

                The function is organized by Post Graduate Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion Medicine, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immune hematology.

                As many as 16 speakers and 66 delegates from across the country would participate in the seminar.

               

         For safe preservation of donated blood,  Chib emphasized on using modern technology reminding that Jammu Blood bank is one among the 15 model Blood Banks of the country. He said efforts are being taken to upgrade the Srinagar Blood bank at par with Jammu blood bank.

      Javid Ahmad Dar described it as an important session for medical fraternity adding that the same will help to gain expertise from national level experts. He said a vigorous campaign is needed for motivating the people to donate the blood to help the needy people.

                He said voluntary organizations is playing vital role to involve maximum youths for blood donation and added that voluntary blood donation has increased from 25 percent to 76percent.

                The Ministers also released souvenir of national continuing medical education on the occasion.
