Elaborating the aims and objectives of establishing Madre-e- Meharban Institute of Health Science, (MEMIHS) the Minister said that it was a long cherished dream of the Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and Madre-e- Meharban, Begum Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah to encourage female literacy and to provide them vocational training for their livelihood.
The Minister said the Government is committed to provide all possible assistance to the students of backward and weaker sections of the society for continuing their studies in various educational institutions. She asked them to come forward and avail benefits of various schemes launched by the Government.
The Minister announced Rs. 50 thousand for purchase of books for the institution under the scheme Book Bank and appreciated the role of the faculty of the institution for providing education to the weaker section of the society. She said that the demands put forth by the Institution would be looked.
The Director Tribal Welfare, Janghir Mir said during the year 2008-09 the Department has distributed an amont of Rs. 395.42 lakh as post matrict scholarship among the schedule tribes students. He also gave resume of the working of the department and said that the department is taking up all the measures for providing scholarship to all the privileged students of the State.
President MEMIHS, Dr. Mustafa Kamal assured the management of the Institution that every steps would be taken for the welfare of the students and said that demands put forth by the management would be taken up with the concerned authorities for their redressal.
