Dardgund (Kulgam)/Srinagar, June 22(Scoop News)-The Minister for Social Welfare, ARI and Trainings, Ms Sakina Itoo today said that it was a dream of the Late Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah to reach out at the doors of the people of far-flung and remote areas and provide them all the facilities at par to urban populace and in this connection under single line Administration System, Board meetings are being held at District Headquarters and other far-flung areas so that the issues of the remote areas are settled on the spot.
The Minister was addressing Saturday a large gathering at Dardgund. She said that the government is making every effort to provide every basic required facility to people living in far flung and remote areas and in this regard some vital sectors like, road connectivity, health, power, PHE and education were prioritized so that the people may get the facilities at their door steps. She said during the four and half years of present government, hundreds of schools have been upgraded and scores of new colleges have been established in the nook and corner of the State for providing higher and quality education to the enthusiastic students.

Listing the achievements of the present dispensation, the Minister said for prompt delivery of various services and speedy disposal of the files of development projects, the government enacted many historical laws like Public Services Guarantee Act, Right to Information Act, establishment of Accountability Commission, Vigilance Commission, holding of Panchayat elections and involving the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in the development of the rural areas for providing good governance to the people of the State.
Responding to the demands put forth by the locals, the Minister said that Muskhud, Gujar Basti shall be de-notified from Devsar Municipality limits shortly and in this connection, she directed Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam for processing the case so that ST category people may be get benefitted by various schemes launched by the State government. She also directed the R&B and other agencies to macadamize the Dardgund, Devsar road and also Khursheed Akahal road immediately. She also assured the locals that due consideration would be given on their demands of upgrading middle school to high school in due course. She said that already a number of middle schools have been upgraded in this area like Lamad, Akahal, Yaru, Tangmarg and other places.
Minister said that transformer in Makhdoom Mohalla has already been sanctioned out of her CDF fund and hoped that this will be installed in a couple of days. She also assured that one electricity pole would be erected in Hazrat Samnani Shrine soon.
Meanwhile, it was also said that under MGNREGA against 32 works, 27 works have already been completed at a cost of Rs 22 lakhs while under IAY 18 number units have been constructed at a cost of Rs 8.10 lakhs.
Later, the Minister also distributed old age pensions/disable cards amongst 20 beneficiaries.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmed Shabnam, District Social Welfare Officer, Kulgam, BDO and other senior officers of district Kulgam were present on the occasion.
