The Minister was speaking at the Annual Day Celebration of All Kargil Students Association Jammu held here today at Shei-i-Kashmir Bhawan. He said the commitment of the Chief Minister to provide due share of development and prosperity has started fructifying the results on ground. One ray is conspicuously the recently declared combined service results in which 11 candidates from Ladakh region have successfully qualified. Of these seven candidates are from the Kargil district. He said this has happened for the first time in the history of State that due share has been given to the Ladakh region.
Akhoon also expressed his gratitude to the Central government and the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah in particular for sanctioning Rs. 500 crore for constructing power projects of different capacities in Ladakh region. Of which Rs. 270 crore have been allotted to Kargil district for completion of different power projects in Kargil district. He hopefully said on completion, there will be a visible revolution in the power sector in Kargil district adding the funds provided be used judiciously with earnest efforts so that targeted people are benefitted.
Divulging the steps taken by the coalition government the Minister said that 26 lecturers in different streams have been appointed from Kargil district and the district is receiving due share in every field keeping in view of the backwardness of the district. He said in

The Minister also honoured the recently qualified 7 KAS candidates and other candidates who have successfully qualified other examinations from Kargil and also distributed prizes among the participants for their outstanding performance in different variety cultural programmes presented on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Councilor, Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan complemented the students for organizing such an impressive function with excellent performance. He urged upon the student community to work hard and evince keen interest in their studies enabling them to come up to the expectation of their parents who have pinned much hope against them. He said the students from Kargil have much potential and the need is to exploit in the right perspective.
