JK Legislative Council condemns cross border firings

Srinagar, August 25, (Scoop News)- Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council todaycondemned the cross border firing incidents across the State in which several civilians were killed recently.

Earlier speaking on obituary references, the Chairman, Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra expressed profound sorrow and grief on the behalf of house on sad demise of Ex-Speakers Choudhary Mohammad Aslam, Abdul Ahad Vakil, , Ex-Minister Mohammad Akbar Ganai, and Miss Mehmooda Ahmed Ali Shah,Ex-Member Legislative Assembly.

He said that words are inadequate to convey the feelings of this House on the loss caused to the nation as well as State in general due to their sad demise. “This House pays homage to the memories of ex-legislators and prayed to God that their souls may rest in peace”, he added.

The Members who spoke on the reference are Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Mohammad Muzaffer Paray, Vijay Bakaya, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Dr. B. A. Veeri, G. Q. Perdesi, Najeeb Suharawardhy, Ajatshatru Singh, Devinder Singh Rana, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Jehangir Hussain Mir, Showkat Hussain Ganai, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, Syed Naeem Akhtar, Sayed Rafiq Ahmad Shah and Dharamveer Singh Oberoi. The Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone also expressed his views on the reference.
Replying on the obituary reference, the Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment Ajay Sadhotra shed light on the lives and political career of the departed legislators and termed it a great loss to the state. He said that these legislators have contributed immensely for betterment of the people and overall development of the state.
Later, two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed legislators.
