JK Minister asks engineers to consult Legislators while formulating development plans

 

          Jammu,April 6 (Scoop News) – J&K Minister for R&B  G.M.Saroori  Saroori directed all the engineers to seek consultation of  local Legislators, while formulating developmental plans in their jurisdictions.  “MLAs are the public representatives and their suggestions should be given due consideration, the Minister maintained

 

 The Minister was addressing an Engineers Conference held in Jammu. He said engineers have an important role in building the nation, adding that the engineers must come up to the expectations of the people. He exhorted upon the engineers to keep away from adopting dilly dallying tactics in execution of development projects of vital public importance and warned that erring engineers will have to face the consequences.

 

           Saroori asked the engineers to utilize all resources to ensure completion of the projects in a time bound manner. He said delay in one work hampers the progress of other works also.

          Stressing for maintaining quality of works at all levels,  Saroori cautioned that no compromise on quality of work would be tolerated in this regard. He asked the Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers to personally visit the work sites and ensure effective monitoring of ongoing projects,  on regular basis.

         

             Saroori directed the engineers to complete the tendering process in all the sanctioned road projects and bridges so that work of the projects could be taken in hand at the earliest. 

            Commissioner Secretary, R&B,  Mehboob Iqbal, Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir,  Nazir Ahmad, Chief Engineer, R&B Jammu  Diptilal Sharma, MD, JKPCC,  Tehsin Mustaffa, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, AEES were, among others, present on the occasion.

                        Earlier, the Minister reviewed the progress and status of the schemes taken up in  Jammu Division under PMGSY at an officers meeting which was also attended by the Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf Ahmad, officers from Forest and R&B Departments.

            The meeting discussed  threadbare the status of the road projects coming up in Jammu Division.

             Saroori asked the officers of Forest Department to speed up the process of issuing forest clearance and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to the road projects submitted to them and to ensure their timely execution. He said that work on Mulwara-Nowpuchi road could have been started much earlier but is pending because of non issuance of NOC from the Forest Department. He asked them to issue forest clearance certificates of  Jindrah-Jallah, Chowadhi Rewali, Gharmajoor- Sandal, Jabta-Chalani road projects at the earliest, as there is no involvement of forest land in these projects.

           

              Saroori instructed the officers of Forest and R&B Departments to conduct a joint survey of Ramsoo-Mohu road and identify some alternate route for construction of road as the present identified location which  involves a vast portion of forest land.

            The Minister said that during current financial year, Rs. 60 crore each for Jammu and Srinagar have been earmarked for beautification and development of roads in these two capital cities. He said the dream of the dynamic Chief Minister  Omar Abdullah to make Jammu and Kashmir a modelSstate would be turned into reality with the liberal funding and moral support being extended by the Centre

             He said Rs. 249 crore have been approved for construction of 102 bridges in the State and directed the concerned engineers to speed up and ensure completion of the projects in time.
