JK Minister asks students to contribute in Nation Building

Srinagar, June 20 (Scoop News)-Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked the student community to come forward and contribute their bit in Nation building.
The Minister was speaking at a cheque distribution function organized by the Department of Social Welfare to distribute cheques worth Rs. 7.89 lakh among 355 students of Khanyar constituency under pre-matric scholarship for minority students introduced by the Central Government.
Sagar said that the Government has introduced several schemes for the welfare of the youth so that they can effectively pursue their academic studies in a proper way. He said that they should come forward and avail the maximum benefits from these schemes so that the benefits reach to the targeted populace.
The Minister said that the youth of the state have a tremendous potential to excel in every field and the need of the hour is to channelize the same in a proper and coordinated manner. He said that the students of our state have proved their metal in different spheres of life is it academic or sports related activities.
“We have to understand that in present world of globalization, the youth have to compete at different levels and they should equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and expertise to bring laurels to the state and city as well”, the Minister maintained. He said that the role of youth has become manifold in nation building as they constitute a big chunk of the population of the country.
The Minister later convened a meeting of National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to discuss the status of its implementation. Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development, Farooq Ahmad Peer, Mission Director NRLM, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Additional Mission Director NRLM, Dr. Arun Manhas and senior officers of Rural Development Department were present.
The Minister directed the officers to speed up the implementation of this flagship programme which would go a long way in ensuring the people living in rural and far-flung areas get the much needed employment opportunities at their doorsteps. He said that this programme would go a long way in elevating the socio-economic profile of rural areas by augmenting the economy of these areas.
The meeting was told that this programme has initially been introduced in 8 blocks of the state four each in Jammu and Kashmir.
