Albacete Spain, December 15, (Scoop News)- Minister for Agriculture Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir has said that all the factors needed for revival of state’s world famous Kashmiri saffron have been addressed adequately under National Mission on Saffron project.
During an interactive meeting with the members of Valeriono Gonzalez Foundation here today, the Minister expressed optimism that within next two years the scenario in terms of production and productivity as also the quality will totally change in a positive direction. He further said that the two important components required for the production and productivity viz re-planting of corms on scientific lines and creating irrigation facilities have started yielding results.
The meeting was attended by the members of Indian Delegation including Minister of State for Agriculture Mr Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi, Managing Director National Horticulture Board R. K. Tiwari, Commissioner Secretary to Agriculture Production Department, DR A. H. Samoon, Director Agriculture Mr Mushtaq Peerzada and Saffron Scientist Prof. Dr F.A. Nehvi.
The delegation later visited some saffron fields in Albacete and interacted with the farmers .The delegation observed that corm density and Irrigation has given good results in Spain. The delegation also discussed the post Harvest Technology being adopted by the local farmers locally.
