Leh, September 19(Scoop News)- J&K Tourism Minister Gh. Ahmad Mir on behalf of the people of entire J&K State congratulated the people of Ladakh for preserving their age old culture and traditions along with high degree of humility and simplicity from generation to generation and he strongly urged upon the Ladakhis to pass on these values to the posterity.
The Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of an Art & Craft Centre cum Museum at Tegar Nubra today which is created here spending nearly Rs: 70.00 lacs under tourism sector with an aim to promote tourism in Nubra region.
The CEC, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar, Executive Councilor Tourism, Mohd. Shafi Lassu, Executive Councilor Health, Dr. Sonam Wangchuk, MLA Nubra, Tsetan Namgyal, Councilor area Rigzin Wangdus, Councilor Deskit Tsewang Rigzin, Councilor Panamik Tsering Wangchuk, SP, Leh Vivek Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Leh Dev. Authority Urgian Lhundup, district officers.
In this context, a grand function highlighting the cultural glimpses of Nubra region presented alongwith food stalls with varieties of local food also served to the guests and the audience.
Addressing the huge gathering, the Minister said that this Art & Craft Centre cum Museum would play a great role not only in preservation and promotion of cultural values, arts and artifacts of Nubra region but would also promote Tourism in Nubra valley.
Impressing highly over the scenic beauty and serene environment of Nubra valley, G A Mir strongly urged upon the people specially the public representatives to maintain the beauty of the region in order to attract more and more tourists who fascinate and compel to stay here beyond the schedule time. The Minister committed to grant Rs: 27.00 lacs for creation of tourism infrastructure at Sumoor .
On this occasion, book on tourism in Nubra and a CD containing the famous songs of Nubra region also released by the Minister.
CEC Rigzin Spalbar congratulating the people of Nubra for coming up this Art & Craft cum Museum urged the people to work seriously for revival of ancient art and craft of Nubra for which the region of known for. Reiterating the Council’s demand for granting Nubra Development Authority for the region, Spalbar apprised the Tourism Minister that Nubra fulfills all criteria for this status. On CEC’s demand, the Minister assured to take up the case of Nubra Dev. Authority in the State cabinet very soon.
The EC Tourism Mohd Shafi Lassu and Councilor Tegar Rigzin Wangdus also spoke on the occasion demanding opening of Yarma Gonbo area for foreigners.
To mark the occasion, a scintillating cultural program presented bt the artists of Nubra.
Earlier, the Minister was given a warm reception at the newly created Sand dune at Sumoor where the Minister and the guests rode on the world famous double humped camel and formally inaugurated the camel safary here.
