JK Minister inaugurates Lal Ded Memorial Museum at Habakadal

Srinagar,July 24 (Scoop News) — Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that varied tourism potential of Srinagar city is being fully explored by way of upgrading tourist infrastructure besides development of potential spots and conservation of heritage places, adding that to showcase the marvellous and enchantment beauty of city, historical gardens and Dal Lake laser shows would be organized very soon in Chinar park Dal Gate and Shalimar garden to attract visiting tourists.

Jora today inaugurated reconstructed Lal Ded Memorial museum at Habakadal, Foot Bridge at Chinar Park, Dal Gate and Coffee House at Peerzoo on the banks of river Jhelum in presence of Minister of State for Home, Tourism and Culture, Nasir Aslam Wani, and Vice Chairperson for Women Development Corporation Mrs. Shamima Firdous.

This tourist infrastructure in city have been completed at a total cumulative cost of Rs.2.30 crore, of which Rs.1.50 crore have been expended on reconstruction of Lal Ded Memorial Museum, Rs. 45 lakh on Foot Bridge Chinar Bagh and Rs. 35 lakh on construction of Coffee House at Peerzoo.

The Minister said that tourism in Kashmir is flourishing day by day. He said the credit of which goes to people of the State who by their sincere efforts maintained peace and tranquillity in the State, which was pre-requisite for tourism boom in the State. He said "our endeavour is to upgrade tourist infrastructure besides conservation of city’s heritage places and development of city’s potential spots, which has received focused attention of the government during last over three years".

Jora said that a heritage tourist circuit Naagar-Nagar-Watlab is being also developed at cost of Rs. 38 crore under which the heritage sites of Srinagar City are being also developed.

Nasir Aslam on the occasion said that Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is paying focused attention for promotion of varied tourism potential of the State, adding that at present tourist infrastructure worth crores of rupees is being developed at potential spots. He said providing different infrastructure, varied attractions to tourists receives added attention of the Government.

He said the Foot Bridge at Chinar bagh has provided another link for entering in the park, adding that this would ease tourists to go their hotels in Koni-Khan, Dal Gate and Nowpora besides also prove beneficial for handloom and handicraft trade of the area.

Nasir called upon the people to continue their whole hearted cooperation to the Government for all round development, peace and prosperity of the State.

Mrs. Shamima Firdous in her address highlighted the achievements registered by the government during last over three years for holistic development of the Stat. She said that promotion of tourism in Srinagar city received focused thrust of the government adding that at present work on several tourist related infrastructure projects are apace in city as tourism industry is mainstay of city people.

The Tourism Minister also has a river ride to access the river tourism potential of Jhelum on way to Lal Ded Memorial Museum Habakadal, where after inauguration of the museum, Jora accompanied by Nasir and Mrs. Shamima Firdous also went round the exhibition galleries of Lal Ded Memorial Museum, where rear and historical photographs of different heritage sites of Srinagar, handicraft and handloom items, Pinjrakari, old terracotta, wood carving works which includes papiermachi, carpet, tilldoze and traditional spices besides Kashmiri wood work, metal work and old map of Kashmir were displayed.

The Ministers showed great interest in the exhibition and appreciated the efforts of INTACH Kashmir chapter and Tourism department for displaying such old and rear historical items in the museum depicting rich culture ethos of Kashmir Valley.
