Jammu, April 7 (Scoop News) –Minister for Planning, Development, Labour & Employment Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Sunday lauded the efforts being made by writers and scholars in promoting the Dogri language in Jammu and Kashmir
Releasing a book titled ‘Khoudhal’ written by a well known actor and columnist Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ at K. L. Sehgal Hall of the Abhinav Theatre, here this afternoon, the Minister said the contributions of literary figures will go a long way in enriching Dogri literature.
He recalled the contributions of great Dogri writers and poets and hoped that the budding writers will take inspiration from their works and will also strive for promotion of this language. He said the people have to play a great role in preserving and popularizing this language among new generations.
The Minister complimented Rajeshwar Singh Raju for his literary work and hoped that this book will inspire the budding writers in shaping their literary pursuits.
The function was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and presided over by N. D. Sharma, veteran Dogri writer. Large number of people, including writers and poets attended the function.
In her welcome address, Additional Secretary of the Academy dwelt on the measures taken by Cultural Academy for promoting art and culture in the region. She spelled out the initiatives taken in this regard over the years.
Rajeshwar Singh Raju shared his experiences in different fields of art and culture. Dwelling upon the book, he expressed his gratitude to his parents who inspired him in his literary and artistic pursuits. As a token of respect, he dedicated the book to his parents.
N. D. Sharma stressed the need for dedicated efforts in promoting Dogri language and congratulated the writer for his literary contribution.
A critical review on the book written by Chhattarpaul was also read out by Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri in the Academy.
