Srinagar,July 25 (Scoop News) – The department of Posts and Telegraphs has planned to launch "Saffron Post" for marketing of world famous Kashmiri Saffron.
The Minister for Agriculture Gh. Hassan Mir today formally launched the "Saffron Post" at a function organized by Post and Telegraphs department at Pampore.
The Chief Post Master General John Samuel, MLA Pampore Zahoor Ahmed Mir, Director Agriculture Kashmir Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone and a large number of progressive Saffron growers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the unique initiative of Posts and Telegraphs department adding that launch of "Saffron Post" will promote sale of Kashmiri Saffron in the national and international market. He said implementation of National Mission of Saffron is in full sung in all the potential areas of State and hoped that it will promote cultivation of Saffron in a big way.
He said the increase in Saffron Production during last year shows that the production of Saffron has grown manifold.
Mir said that work on Spice Park at Pampore is also in full sung to provide marketing and quality control facilities to the Saffron growers. He said with a view to provide irrigation facilities to Saffron growers, a bore well would be made functional in the month of September, adding that work on other bore wells is also a pace. He said government will not allow conversion of Saffron land to residential or commercial purposes and warned land dealers to desist from such attempts. He said Kashmiri Saffron is our identity which will be protected at all cost.
