Srinagar, June 08 (Scoop News) – Minister for CA&PD and Transport Qamar Ali Akhon today visited Khir Bhawani Shrine at Tullamulla and took stock of the arrangements put in place for the devotees.
He went round the Shrine and interacted with the devotees and inquired about the facilities being provided by the administration. The devotees expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
Mr Akhoon inspected the CA&PD counter set up at the Shrine and was apprised that sufficient stock of essentials is available to cater the need during the mela. He was informed that 40 passenger buses have been put into service for ferrying the devotees from Jammu, besides over 20 private buses have also been granted permission for transport facility of devotees from various destinations of the valley.
Among others, Commissioner Secretary, Transport Mr. G R Gani, Director, CA&PD, Kashmir Mr. Abdul Wahid Tak, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Mr. Showket Ahmad Mir, SP, Ganderbal, Mr Imitiyaz Ahmad, RTO, Kashmir Mr. Anees, Chief Engineer, MED, besides other officers of line department accompanied the Minister.
Meanwhile Qamar Ali Akhon announced a new check post to be set up near existing Weigh Bridge at Sonamarg to regulate the vehicular traffic and check over-loading of trucks.
This was stated by the Minister while chairing a joint meeting of officers of Police, Traffic and Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) at Sonamarg today.
The Minister stressed on close coordination of line departments to discourage over-loading by the load carriers on way to Ladakh. While inspecting the weigh Bridge, he was informed that Rs. 27,500 has been realized as fine for over-loading during last ten days. He asked the Police and Traffic authorities to identify the over-loaded trucks trapped at Zojila and initiate action against them for having escaped necessary load check.
On visiting proposed site for setting up of new weigh bridge, Mr Akhoon was informed that tenders have been received by the department and work on the project would start soon.
