Srinagar, October 18 (Scoop News) – Underscoring the need for timely completion of interior designing and display layout of new Sri Pratab Singh Museum, Lalmandi Srinagar, the Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora stressed upon Mortika design collaborative Mumbai to come with detailed drawing plans of the interior designing of the Museum well in time for early implementation of the designing work to make the museum functional in new complex.
Reviewing the pace of museum display work, the Minister said the Phase-II of the museum which is based on interior designing and display layout would be completed in three phases at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 crore, adding that Rs. 3.50 crore have been earmarked for current fiscal for the purpose.
Jora said the new museum is the prestigious project of the state and every effort would be made to make it model museum of the country. He stressed upon the concerned officers to work with close coordination for early implementation of the design work of the museum.
Minister directed concerned to provide necessary information about museum collections to the concerned firm so that no artefacts is left uncovered in the designing process.
He instructed concerned officers to prepare a comprehensive report on the old carpets, furniture and other items of artistic value for their transfer for showcasing in new museum and to fill the missing gaps in the collections of the museum.
Jora said that since the most of the museum collections on Kashmir, therefore special focus should be given on showcasing the Art and Culture of the place.
The designing work of the new museum has been entrusted to a country repute agency Mortika Design Collaborative Mumbai by the government, has given a power point presentation depicting display layout of design work of various galleries in the meeting and was directed to submit drawing plans at the earliest so that the interior designing of the new museum would be started.
Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture Atul Dulloo, Director Libraries and Research Khalid Bashir, Managing Director Police Housing Corporation, Mohammad Amin Shah, Special Secretary Tourism and Culture Altaf Ahmed, Chief Architect Munir Ahmed Khan, Consultant Tourism and Culture K.A. Qadri, Convenor INTACH Srinagar chapter besides other senior officers of Archives and Archaeology, Tourism and Culture attended the meeting.
