Jammu, December 20 (Scoop News) –While carrying forward the Mission to provide all the requisite facilities to the people living in inaccessible areas and hilly terrain, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather in a whirl wind one day hectic tour today inaugurated two newly sanctioned Government Treasuries, one each at Ramsoo in Ramban and Assar in Doda district raising the total number of government treasuries to 55 in Jammu province. The Minister also inaugurated treasury building for Government Treasury Gool constructed at a cost of about Rs. 22 lakh.
Minister of State for Fisheries, Haj and Aquaf, Aijaz Ahmed Khan was present on the occasion.
It was like a festive season at all the venues, where the jubilant people including men, women, young and children, irrespective of caste, creed or colour danced to the tunes of traditional drums beats to express their joy and happiness on seeing their long pending demands getting fulfilled.
Among others the functions were attended by the Legislators, MLA Banihal, Vikar Rasool, MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Ravi Magotra, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Farooq Ahmad Khan and Joint Director Accounts and Treasury Mohammad Aslam at respective places.
Addressing to a series of public gatherings, after inaugurating treasuries, Rather said the Coalition Government, lead by visionary Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is committed to ameliorate the lot of poorest of the poor with special focus on remote and backward pockets of the State. He said after brining Ramsoo, Gool and Assar on the treasury map of the State, three more treasuries, in the most difficult and rugged terrain in Paddar, Dachan and Marwa are being dedicated to the people of these areas shortly, adding that basic objective is to provide better service and facilities to the people near to their door steps and to remove their hardships.
“It is government’s paramount duty to ensure equitable and uniform development of all the areas, regions and sub-regions of the State without any discrimination”, Rather asserted adding that no stone will be left unturned to come upto the urges and expectations of the people of the State in this regard.
Rather said that holding of panchayat elections, after a long gap of 20 years, is also aimed at being speedy development in rural areas and the elections to the Block Development Council (BDCs) will be hold vary soon to ensure that panchayat representatives start their duties in District Development Boards to discuss and formulate village works plans on needs basis. He asked the workers, Panches and Sarpanches to work in unison for solving the local problems of the people as they have pinned high hopes on them. He also cautioned them not to get swayed by the false propaganda of the opposition adding that after getting crushing defeat in the elections, they are un-nerved with the rising popularity of the coalition partners among the masses. “They will come again and again with bundle of lies to hood wink you on frivolous issues, but tell them that they have been rejected by the people for their double standards” he added.
Rather said National Conference has been always strong votary of decentralization of power adding that it was in 1975, when Sheri-Kashmir introduced single line administration to decentralize the power from secretariat to district level for solving the problems of people under one roof. He said Panchayat Raj System is also the offshoot of this pro-people policy of NC which has been carried forward by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. He said Panches and Sarpanches have a vital role to play in development of villages.
