Jammu, January 12(Scoop News) –Minister for Higher Education, Labour & Employment, Abdul Gani Malik today called upon the people particularly the students to preserve the rich cultural heritage of J&K.
The Minister said this at celebration of “Jashan–e-Virast” at jam packed auditorium Government College for Women Ghandi Nagar here this morning. The function was organized by Montage Films in Collaboration with Doordarshan Jammu and University Of Jammu which was participated by students of different collages.
MLC, Mr Vijay Bakya, I.G Jammu, Dlibagh Singh, Consultant culture, S. A Qadri, ex. Commissioner Secretary, Mr Najam Saqib and proprietor of Montage Films, Ms Rama Pandy were present on the occasion.
Saying that cultural ethos is our identity, Mailk said the need of the hour is that all of us have to work collectively to promote composite cultural of the state for future generations. He said that history of any nation can only be identified through its rich cultural ethos.
The Minister said that the schools and colleges have a greater role for acquainting the younger generation about their culture and heritage and in this direction all educational institutions have been directed to promote composite culture and heritage through organizing variety traditional cultural shows round the year on different occasions and festivals. He said the main aim is to make the youngsters take charge, look after and take pride in of their culture and heritage.
To promote the cultural identities The Minster directed the college principals to allow the students to come to their respective institutions in their traditional dresses one day in a week which would help us to showcase the different cultural dresses.
The Varsat trophy was bagged by Government Degree College Doda.
Earlier the students of different collages presented the varieties of traditional folk songs which exhibit culture of different areas of the state.
Later the Minister distributed Dogori varsat citations among the 4 artists who have made their contributions in different capacities which include Mrs Krshina Kumari, Malu Ram, Haji Ghulam Mohammad Dansali and Pardiumen Singh
