Srinagar, September 1 (Scoop News) – Srinagar, September 1 (Scoop News) – Enumerating the various measures taken by the government for ensuring peace and over all sustained development of the state, Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that certain frustrated elements are trying their best to mislead the people by falsehood and hollow slogans.
The Minister was addressing a huge public gathering at Arechanderhama, Pattan today. Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo, Director Rural Development, Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmed and other senior officers of district administration were present.
Referring to the enactment of various acts for ensuring good governance at the gross root level, the Minister said that the government has ensured that the people get the requisite necessary information about the working of the various departments and services within the stipulated time frame so that the menace of corruption is contained. "We have also seen to it that people get the requisite essential services required for their day-to-day living as early as possible and in this regard Public Services Guarantee Act is a landmark legislation which also ensures that an officer/official is also penalized if he fails to provide the requisite service within the given time frame", he maintained.
"The Government has also ensured democratic decentralization of powers to the grass root level by putting in place a vibrant panchayati raj system and empowering the same with a power of 14 vital departments so that the people at ground level are also involved in the day-to-day governance. Further Additional District Development Commissioner has been nominated as nodal officer for monitoring that the orders of empowerment are fully adhered to and any officer/official not adhering to the same will not be spared", the Minister said and announced that an amount of Rs. 20 lakh would be given to halqa under MGNREAGA for ensuring development.
Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo while speaking on the occasion said that the government has initiated several landmark schemes for the welfare of the people. She said that in order to tackle the global phenomena of unemployment, the state has introduced a noble scheme called Sher-i-Kashmir Employment Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWYP) and EDI for imparting training and providing hassle free loan facilities to the un-employed educated youth.
Coming down heavily on the political parties trying to mislead the people, Ms. Itoo said that it is a recorded history during their tenure they only mislead the people by resorting to falsehood and hollow slogans. She said that the present government believes in sustained action rather than rhetoric and misleading people by flouting obnoxious ideas.
