Srinagar, September 5 (Scoop News)-The Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar has stressed upon the concerned authorities the early completion of the Makhdoom Sahab ropeway project and other tourism related projects in Srinagar city.
The Minister was speaking at a high level meeting convened to discuss the status of ongoing of work on the Makhdoom Sahab ropeway project.
The Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of State for Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary Tourism and Culture Atul Dullo, Director Tourism/MD Cable Car Corporation, Talat Parvez, Chief Engineer PDD, Representatives of Archaeological Survey of India, RITES and other senior officers of other related departments were present in the meeting.
Sagar asked the officers to speed up the work on this prestigious project as it would go a long way in promoting the tourist related activities in the area besides providing convenience to the devotees coming to pay their obeisance at the revered shrine of Peer Makhdoom Sahib (RA).
The Minister also directed the officers to ensure that the work on various tourism and heritage related projects like Nagaar Nagar, beautification of the areas of Jamia Masjid, Zainakadal is speeded up so that the historical city of Srinagar forms one of the Major tourist attractions of the State is projected in a better way. He said this would go a long way in providing the much needed employment opportunities to the youth besides resulting in changing the economic profile of the area.
Jora also asked the officers to ensure that the project be completed within two months and should work in complete synergy to ensure the bottlenecks if any are removed at an earliest for the early completion of this prestigious project.
The Minister later conducted an extensive tour of the old city Srinagar to personally oversee the status of various developmental works. The areas visited include Aali Kadal, Budger, Wazapora, Sukhlipora, Kawadara and other areas. The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Dr. G.N.Qasba and other senior officers of NBCC, PHE, PDD, R&B and other departments.
The Minister directed the NBCC to complete the repairment of the road from Aali Kadal to Kawdara as early as possible so that the inconvenience faced by the people of the area is addressed. He also asked the officers to complete the macmdemization of the dilapidated roads, lanes and by-lanes on priority basis.
Sagar directed the officers to acquire the structures needed for the widening of road at Aalikadal and from Budgear to Wazapora. He also asked the officers of SMC to undertake the work on the proposed community halls in the area as early as possible so that the people living in the area get benefitted from the same.
