Jammu, October 31 (Vijay Kumar) – On the issue of ban ban on Pre -paid Mobile connections in J&K by Home Minister, BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora said on Saturday that we cannot compromise over the issues of national importance, it is the central and state government, which has to take final decision on Mobile issue, because we feel that our country is fighting proxy war.
He said the recent statement of Mehbooba Mufti that PM should intervene and change the decision of temporary stopping pre-paid mobile service and further averred that her father Mufti Mohd. Sayeed brought this service after great deal of efforts in 2003 is not acceptable especially when we are fighting gun culture.
Arora suggested that some package must be announced to compensate the families who are linked with the prepaid mobile service and are carrying business because they invested a lot for their business and sudden shutdown will affect their bread and butter.
BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora appealed the public that the situation in our state is not normal and abnormal situation is to be dealt by stringent methods. We ask the state government to formulate laws also like POTA to deal with militant and militancy related activities. Arora further said that decision to ban may be a compulsion depending upon the input received from intelligence service. Although we further suggested to restore the service as early as possible depending upon threat perception. He appealed State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah not to make statements like withdrawal of forces and abolishing Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) because the time is not ripe to do the same rather it encourage the separatist forces and their leaders. That is why country like China has also started interfering in our internal matters.
It may be mentioned here that Government of India decided to ban pre-paid mobile phone connections in Jammu and Kashmir from 1st November due to security reasons. The move will affect 38 lakh pre-paid mobile phone subscribers in the state. The step comes in the wake of reports that proper verification is not being done while providing such pre-paid mobile connections by the service providers/vendors, sources said. In some cases, a single person had been issued with multiple number of connections. The fake documents/identity numbers are also reportedly being used by the vendors particularly, in the case of pre-paid connections. The Home Ministry has asked the Department of Telecommunications to take appropriate action in the matter for implementation of the decision.
