JK Police Chief assures measures for retired police welfare

Jammu, February 25 (Scoop News) – The Director General of Police (DGP),  Kuldeep Khoda today said that retired police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police are an important segment of police parivar and their welfare is prime concern of Police Organization.

                Addressing a State Level Meet of retired police personnel here today at Police Auditorium, Gulshann Ground,  Khoda said that several initiatives have been taken for the welfare of retired police personnel and many more are in pipe line so that they lead a happy and smooth life. He said that retired police personnel have served the department during their days of bloom and have remained active in the service of the nation. It is the responsibility of the whole Organization to address their genuine problems after their retirement, he added. He said that we have to work together for the welfare of retired personnel so that they do not feel themselves ignored at any level.

The DGP said that the department is having a scheme for the welfare of retired police personnel and under this scheme various initiatives have been taken from time to time. Referring to the recent Central Police Welfare Meeting held in December at Jammu, he said that several more schemes have been introduced for the welfare of serving and retired police personnel. The Organization has also raised the problems of retired personnel with the State government from time to time and the government also has considered our genuine requests favourably, he said.

                        The meeting discussed thoroughly the agenda points and several issues raised by the retired personnel present in the meeting. The meeting assured the participants that the issues raised by them would be considered at Zones and PHQ level and other issues would be taken with the concerned authorities for appropriate action. The meeting informed that the Organization has a proposal to establish two Police Housing Colonies at Srinagar and Jammu, and once these colonies are established retired personnel would also be accommodated in these colonies. Medical facilities are available in twin Police Hospitals at Srinagar and Jammu and the department is focussing to improve these facilities by enhancing indoor capacity upto 100 beds in these hospitals. Likewise facilities for providing quality education to the wards of retired personnel in Police Public Schools is being extended at district level also. Coaching for competing the professional examinations has been made available by the department in two capital cities of the State.

                The Additional Director General of Police, Armed/Law & Order,  K. Rajendra Kumar informed the meeting that recruitment of different posts in various districts of the State has been made with utmost transparency. He clarified that any person having any doubt about the merit secured can approach the concerned Chairmen of Recruitment Committees at Range Level.   

                On the occasion, the former DGP (J&K),  M. M. Khajuria, who was present in the meeting, highlighted the problems being faced by the retired personnel and said that these problems should be attended on priority at all levels. He appreciated the initiative taken by the DGP,  Khoda for organizing the State Level Meet of retired police personnel.

                Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP, Dr. Gopal Reddy, Inspectors General of Police, Smt. D.R.Doley,  Naveen Aggerwal,  Dilbag Singh, Sheikh Owais Ahmed,  M. A. Shah, Dr. B. Srinivas,  Ravinder Kotwal,  A. K. Chowdhery and   H. K. Lohia,n Deputy Inspectors General of Police,  Alok Puri,  A. S. Bali,  T. Punchow and  Garib Dass, AIG (Personnel),  Ghulam Hassan Bhat. A galaxy of senior retired  police officers including  Madan Lal,  S.S. Wazir,  M. S. Wani,  Datta Ji Gungoo,  C. L. Banal,  O.N. Koul, Mufti Abdul Gani, Satvir Gupta,  Anoop Singh,  S. S. Bijral and Mrs. Manju Rashid were also present in the meeting..
