Srinagar, April 11 (Scoop News) – Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda today reviewed overall security scenario in the Kashmir ahead of panchayat Elections, Darbar Move of offices to the summer capital and maintenance of law and order in the Valley.
The high level meeting was attended by the chiefs of various wings of JKP, District Superintendents of Police and other para-military forces deployed in the Valley held at Police Control Room here this evening.
Khoda called for close synergy between various law enforcing agencies to ensure free and fair elections. He in particular emphasized the need for creating a congenial atmosphere for maximum participation of voters in the democratic exercise at the grassroots level. ‘No body will be allowed to vitiate the atmosphere and create obstacles in smooth conduct of polls’, he asserted.
Khoda directed that strict vigil must be maintained on the anti-social elements in all the nooks and corners of the Valley so that their ill designs are foiled. He further directed the police and all other agencies to maintain congenial atmosphere in the Valley for overall peace and prosperity of the people.
The DGP stressed upon the officers to work with greater zeal and maintain close liaison with each other for smooth conduct of elections which will begin from April 13. He impressed upon the field officers to strengthen deployments and the manpower on the ground so that the people are able to elect their representatives for the Panchayats in a free and fair atmosphere. The DGP assured that all possible help and assistance will be provided to the districts for smooth conduct of the elections. He also directed the security agencies to provide fool-proof security to darbar move employees and the government records during its transportation from Jammu to Srinagar.
During the meeting, the DGP was briefed by different district police chiefs that a number of measures have been taken with regard to improving security and deployment of personnel for maintaining law and order in their respective jurisdictions. The district chiefs said that many civil society meetings and youth conferences have been organized for creating better police-public relation by involving people of all walks of society, particularly the youth.
The high level meeting was attended by ADGP, Armed/Law & Order, K. Rajendra Kumar, IsGP, S. M. Sahai, Dr. B. Srinivas and Z. H. Chisti, IsGP CRPF, B. N. Romesh and Ravi Prakash Meharda, DIsGP, Rauf-ul-Hassan, Muneer Khan, A. G. Mir, Garib Dass and S. A. Watali, all District Superintendents of Police of the Valley and other police officers.
