JK Police encourages budding artists: DGP

Jammu, February 26 (Scoop News) –  The Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization conducted the Zone Level Singing Talent Hunt ‘‘Choona Hai Asmaan’’ at Police Auditorium, in Jammu.  As a part of its ongoing Singing Talent Hunt, the Organization had organized such programmes at district and range level to select the best singers of the State for this Zone Level Competition.

The cultural evening was witnessed by a large number of people from all shades of life, who enjoyed the performance much. In all 20 contestants took part in the competition and exhibited their singing performance. The contestants belonging to various districts of Jammu Province had been selected after competing at different levels. The performers included 9 girls and 11 boys who were divided in different categories.

Audience who thronged the auditorium, hailed the Jammu and Kashmir Police for its endeavour to organize such cultural activities in the State. They said that the activities have provided a platform to explore the hidden talent particularly the youth from remote and poor pockets of the State. Besides this the activities have made the people to recognize humane face of police.

The Director General of Police (DGP),  Kuldeep Khoda was the Chief Guest at the function. In his address he said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been realizing its social responsibilities and stepping forward in this field, the Organization is promoting the cultural activities in the State. The department has already taken various initiatives to promote sports activities in the State and assistance has been provided to the youth to make them able to participate in various sports competitions, he added. He said that the department is now focussing on promoting cultural activities in the State and the aim behind this is to bring awareness among the youth about our age old cultural traditions for their preservation. He said that the youth have to preserve cultural heritage left behind by our ancestors which should be a good sign of our mental development.

  Khoda said that the ongoing singing competition has been started from district level in January after identifying the talent from far-flung areas of various districts across the State. He said that after competing the district and range level competitions, the performers are trying their luck for their entrance in the State Level Competition which would be held soon to select the best signers of the State. He said that the campaign has already been completed in Kashmir Province also at Zone Level on February 17. This endeavour of the department has explored the talent of these budding singers and this talent need to be shaped, he added. 

The DGP appreciated the performers and stressed upon them to continue their attempts and refine their talent which is mandatory to achieve higher success. He said the Police Organization will always provide helping hand to encourage the budding artists in the State. He also thanked the organizers for conducing the programmes at different levels in a befitting manner.      

                Designated jury members,  Suraj Singh,  Bahadur Singh and Ms. Anita Sharma adjudged their performance and declared  Aamir Khan, Master Nassar-ullah Bhat and  Mohammad Suhail as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the junior male category. Ms. Vibha Bharti and Ms. Sunaina Kundal were declared 1st and 2nd in the junior female category. In the senior male category,  Sumit Bhardwaj,  Ravjot Singh,  Mudasir Bhat and  Sahil Sharma were declared 1st, 2nd,, 3rd and 4th . Ms. Prayanka, Naina kousar and Ms. Sonali Rajput were declared prize winners in the said female category. Similarly in the masters level  Rajesh Sharma,  Khurshid Rather and Hangilla Hussain were adjudged prize winners and in the female category Ms. Harleen Kour, Ms Manju Bala and Ms. Kamlesh Sharma were declared winners.

                On the occasion, mementoes were also distributed among the winners by DGP and other guests. Cash prizes were announced by the DGP on the spot. 

                The Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association, (JKPWWA), Dr. Indu Khoda who was present on the occasion along with other women members said that Police Wives Welfare Association would also contribute to encourage the young artists in the cultural field.

                Earlier, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range,  Farooq Khan threw light on the campaign initiated from district level and said that the contestants of the event identified from remote areas have reached to Range Level competition with the utmost attempts of concerned district Superintendents of Police. 

                Among others, the cultural function was attended by Additional Director General of Police, Armed/Law and Order,  K. Rajindra Kumar,   Inspectors General of Police,  Naveen Aggerwal,  Dilbag Singh,  A. K. Chowdhery and  Gulzar Singh Salaria, Deputy Inspectors General of Police,  Alokpuri,  T. Punchok,  Jagdesh Kumar and  Garib Dass,  Superintendents of Police,  Basant Rath,  Israr Khan,  J. L Sharma,  Superintendents of Police,  J. S. Jowhar and Shalinder Kumar and other police officers.
