Srinagar, June 07 (Scoop News) –Representative of various political parties called on the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at SKICC today soon after the conclusion of 5th convocation of Sheri-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology, Kashmir.
These include National Conference led by A. M Dar, Congress led by Prof. Saif-u-din Soz, Peoples Democratic Party led by Ms Mehbooba Mufti, Bhartiya Janta Party led by Ashok Khajuria, Panthers Party led by Harshdev Singh, Pahari Forum led by Shabir Ahmed, CPI led by A. R. Takroo, CPI(M) led by M. Y. Tarigami, DPN led by G. H. Mir, PDF led by Hakim Mohammad Yasin and Awami National Conference led by Muzzaffar Shah.
Meanwhile the State Government has expressed its deep gratitude to the Prime Minister for announcing generous funding from Central Government and commitment to extend support to the State Government in its endeavour to create employment opportunities for the youth.
While addressing the convocation of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology today, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh announced a grant of Rs. 100 crore for the Agriculture University, Kashmir, setting up of National Mission to look into issues related to research, production, processing and marketing of Saffron, linking Ladakh with the National Grid besides approving Rs. 473 crore for Ladakh Renewable Energy Initiative.
The Government highly appreciated the concern expressed by the Prime Minister about the problems being faced by the State in road connectivity, power, drinking water and civil supplies. The Government is particularly grateful to the Prime Minister for recognizing these difficulties which are being confronted by the State for the last few decades and the liberal financial support to address critical gaps in these sectors.
The State Government also welcomed the offer of the Prime Minister for talks with all sections of the people who shun the path of violence.
