Jammu,March 10: (Scoop News)-A deputation of Provincial Power Employees Union, Jammu, led by its General Secretary, Ajaz Kazmi, called on Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan, today and submitted a charter of demands to him regarding various problems confronting to them.
The demands included release of pay in favour of Meter Readers, segregation of seniority lists of Technical and non Technical personnel, clarification of skilled workers and implementation of SRO-59 in Jammu Province.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to their demands and assured of his full cooperation in mitigating their genuine grievances in a phased manner. However, the Minister exhorted upon the employees of Power Development Department (PDD) to work with zeal and dedication and do justice with their jobs. He said that PDD has an important role to play for extending power supply not only to house hold but also to the industrial sector, adding that socio economic development of the State was largely dependent on the industrial growth and it cannot flourish without the availability of uninterrupted power supply.
The Minister said that Government was aware of the problems faced to the employees of PDD and several concrete steps have been initiated to resolve the demands of the employees working in Power Development Department.
