Srinagar, October 24 (Scoop News)- A delegation of the Jammu Kashmir Press Association met N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.
The 9-member delegation led by G. H. Kaloo, President of the JK Press Association discussed with the Governor several important issues relating to the growth of Press in the State. The delegation presented a Memorandum of their demands to the Governor which included, interalia, newspapers being declared as a small scale industry and being provided incentives, enhanced flow of advertisement support, etc.
The Governor, while highlighting the vital role of the media, observed that it can act as a valuable bridge between the Government and the people only if it consistently maintains the highest standards of objectivity, impartiality and fairness. Referring to the demands presented by the delegation, he assured that he would address the concerned authorities in this regard.
The delegation comprised Vajeeh Ahmad Andrabi, General Secretary, Iqbal Muhammad Wani, Organizer, Mir Ashiq Hussain, Treasurer, Zahoor Ahmad Shora, Secretary, Fayaz Ahmad Wani, Spokesman, Farooq Andrabi, Gulzar Ahmad and Abdul Qayoom.
