Jammu,March 30 (Scoop News) -Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone today advised the Government to ensure comprehensive implementation of schemes for boosting agriculture and horticulture production and suggested for involving local representatives in this regard.
Intervening during the reply by Minister for Horticulture, Sham Lal Sharma, on question by M. Y Tarigami, the Speaker told the Minister to seek the advise the Member as he has a good knowledge of the field.
Earlier, the Minister said that under Technology Mission, by resorting to a slight modification in the scheme for irrigation, the Government has decided to dig deep bore wells to cover 200 Kanal land in a particular area.
The Minister also gave a detailed account of the steps being taken to improve the quality of fruit and its production in the State, besides assistance for reaching out to national markets for better dividends.
Replying to another question by Mohammad Irfan Shah, he gave detailed resume of the steps taken by the Government for boosting vegetable production in Mujgund, Tengpora and Bakshipora areas in Batmaloo Constituency. He also assured the House that possibility of setting up of a Mandi in the area would also be explored.
