Jammu, February 03 (Scoop News) – Speaker, Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone has asked the officers of revenue department to prepare detailed project report for fencing of cremation ground and temples and shrines of Kashmiri Pandits at Sopore for appropriate action after discussing the issue with the Chief Minister. He also asked them to initiate measures for acquisition of 125 kanals of land at Sopore for raising public centric assets.
These instructions were passed at a meeting held here to discuss the problems faced by the Pandit community of Sopore area.
Minister for Revenue Mr. Raman Bhalla besides Secretary Revenue. Eijaz Iqbal, Commissioner Relief. V. K. Koul, SDM, Sopore, Mohammad Assan, President Sanatan Dharam Sabha(SDS), Sopore A. K. Ganjoo and other members of Sanatan Dharam Sabha attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on protection and preservation of Kashmiri Pandits property owned by SDS, Sopore headed by Ganjoo. He was asked to provide rent details of arrears of 10 shops at Sopore which is outstanding against these shops tenants. The District Development Commissioner, Baramulla was asked to affect the recovery from the tenants as per Migrant Property Act 1987.
The demand of SDS to reopen the case of acquisition of land for construction of Chankhani Bridge has been turned down as it is not legally valid point at a time when final award has been issued.
