Jammu, February 09 (Scoop News) – Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar lone has asked the concerned departments to make elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of upcoming budget session, beginning on February 23 here.
Chairing a high level joint meeting of civil and police officers, Lone directed the authorities heading various departments to maintain close coordination and ensure that the business in the legislature was conducted in a hassle free manner.
He said that the Legislature session has great significance in a democratic setup as the issues of public importance are raised by the public representatives in the august Houses seeking redressal from the Government.
The Speaker was apprised about the security measures to be put in place in and around the assembly complex, besides the regulation of traffic and parking of vehicles of the media persons, Ministers and legislators.
The Speaker appreciated the departments for drawing a comprehensive plan for the arrangements during the last summer session. He directed them to ensure their responsibilities during the ensuing session as well.
Lone directed the officers of Estates Department to undertake necessary repair and renovation works to spruce up the surroundings. It was informed in the meeting that repair and renovation of main hall has been completed and other parts will be completed within a week’s time.
The Speaker directed the PDD officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the course of session. He also asked them to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Government Press Jammu during the session.
Information Department has been asked to maintain close rapport between the press and legislators to ensure proper and due coverage of the proceedings of the House.
Discussing the issue of parking of vehicles, it was resolved in the meeting that the private vehicles of only Under Secretaries and above ranks would be allowed to enter the premises of Secretariat during the session.

Sawhney, Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu Ms Shahnaz Goni besides other officers attended the meeting.
