Disclosing this, BJP State General Secretary Satish Sharma said that the party had decided not to attend this meet as the invitation extended to the party was to be part of State delegation under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and not by the PM Office as was general impression created through media. The BJP could not be part of any delegation which was to be led by Omar Abdullah.
The party decided to attend the Meet after P. Chidambaram personally rang up the State President Shamsher Singh Manhas and Leader of Legislators Party Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta with a request that the meeting with participation of BJP representatives will send a strong message to the hostile forces and otherwise it would turn out to be one-sided.
The BJP leaders made it clear to the Union Home Minister that they be treated as separate group and not part of the delegation to be led by Omar Abdullah and the request was accepted. They said that the party’s stand over constitution of Commission of Inquiry is very clear. We oppose it and demand to disband it immediately. The BJP is also clear on accession of the State.
