J&K state has rich cultural traditions: DGP

Jammu, February 19 (Scoop News) –  The Director General of Police (DGP), . Kuldeep Khoda today said that Jammu and Kashmir Police, apart from its professional duties, has taken keen interest in promoting rich traditional culture of the State. The activity has been started with the aim to identify hidden talent from rural as well as urban areas, he added. He said that these budding singers will be provided a platform to exhibit and refine their talent so that they could contest at state and national level and earn a good name for Jammu and Kashmir State. The police Organization will provide every possible help to promote their talent, which would help in preserving our rich cultural traditions.

Kuldeep Khoda was speaking in a function of singing competition, talent hunt ‘Choona Hai Aasman’, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground.  Khoda was the chief guest at the function distributed trophies among the winners of the contest.

Khoda said that the campaign has also been launched in other districts of the State and in Kashmir Zone the activity has reached to Zone level. Six contestants have been selected from each Range of the Zone. State Level Grand Finale of the event will be held to select three best singers of the State, he added.

The chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association, (JKPWWA), Dr. Indu Khoda who was present on the occasion alongwith other women members said that Police Wives Welfare Association would also contribute  in cultivating talent among the youth of the State to enable them to contest at different levels.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization, which has been ever since promoting sports activities has now, endeavoured to contribute its bit in encouraging cultural activities. With this end in mind, the organization has started a Singing Talent Hunt ‘Choona Hai Aasman’ in the State to provide platform to the budding singers of the State.

            After holding inter district level singing competition, a Range Level Competition was held here yesterday evening. In all 18 contestants, including nine boys and nine girls selected from districts of Jammu, Kathua and Samba took part and exhibited performed under three categories viz. junior, senior and master’s level. A large number of singing lovers were present on the occasion to encourage the performers . The programme was divided into two rounds and lasted for more than three hours.

            Singing experts . Suraj Singh, . Bahadur Singh and Ms Anita Sharma designated as jury members adjudged their performance and declared . Aamir Khan, . Vishal Pandita and . Dilhar Kumar as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the junior male category. Ms. Vibha Bharti, Ms. Varsha Jamwal and Ms. Vishali Rajput were declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the junior female category. In the senior male category . Ravjot Singh, . Raman Singh and . Rosha Lal were declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Ms. Paiyanka and Ms. Approva were declared prize winners in the said female category. Similarly at the masters level . Rajesh, Baba Gopal Dass and . Makhan Singh were adjudged prize winners and in the female category Ms. Harleen Kour and Ms. Gursharan were declared  as winners.

    Among others, Additional Director General of Police, Armed/Law and Order, . K. Rajindra Kumar, Inspectors General of Police, . Naveen Aggerwal, . Dilbag Singh and . A. K. Chowdhary, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, . Alokpuri, . Gulzar Singh Salaria, Senior Superintendents of Police, . Basant Rath, . Israr Khan, . J. L Sharma, Superintendents of Police, . J. S. Jowhar and Shalinder Kumar and other police officers were present on the occasion.
