Jammu, March 15 (Scoop News)-Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo today told the House that the Government has received Rs. 43.37 crore from the Centre under Article 275(I) and SCA to Tribal Sub Plan from 2009-10 to 2011-12 for development of tribal areas in the State.
The Minister was replying to a question by M. Y Tarigami in the House today.
Giving year wise details of the funds released by the Centre under these heads, the Minister informed the House that Rs. 5.46 crore were released by the Centre in lump-sum under SCA to TSP and Article 275 (I) against the action plans of 2009-10. She said Rs. 1.50 crore were released by the Centre in lump-sum under Article 275(I) against the action plan of 2012-13 but no funds under SCA to TSP have been released by the Centre against the State action Plan of 2012-13 so far.
The Minister said that these funds are being expended on various developmental works in Tribal areas through district executing agencies and funds for the purpose remain at the disposal of concerned District Development Commissioners.
She said the State Government has been submitting action plans for Central funding in time and is also perusing for timely release of fund with the Centre but sometimes these are released at the end of the financial year adding that to carry out the works in tribal areas under TSP and Article 275 (I) in tribal areas, the Chief Minister has directed release of Rs. 12 crore as an interim measure.
The Minister assured the House that detailed information of beneficiaries under these schemes would be provided after collecting the same from the concerned authorities of the districts.
Earlier, raising the question, Tarigami demanded timely release of funds under TSP to facilitate timely completion of development works in tribal areas and also given the limited working season in these areas. He also demanded refocusing the needs of the tribal people in view of the fact that they are not adequately covered under various schemes and programmes in vogue.
Telbal nallah discharges 624.34 cusecs water: Sham
Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma said that peak discharge of Telbal Nallah in Srinagar is 624.34 cusecs and the lowest 2.29 cusecs.
Replying to a question by Dr. Mustafa Kamal in the House today, the Minister said that the developmental works in the area are not being executing by Irrigation and Flood Control Department, but by the LAWDA and R&B department. He, however, said that as per the information from these departments works on 4 ghats is apace besides the concerned departments are also considering construction of foot-bridges in the area.
