JK State’s Golf Circuit to attract global players:Omar

 

   Jammu, February 02 (Scoop News) –   Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Thursday said that the creation of Golf Circuit in the State would help rope in national and international golfers to the State giving boost to tourism related activities.

            Omar said that the completion and inauguration of Golf Courses at Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sidhra (Jammu) and development of Golf Course at Leh would attract golfers to the State to play in different environments during their stay in the three regions.

            Chairing 1st Governing Body meeting of Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) here today, the Chief Minister approved release of Rs. 3 crores for the development of the 9-holes Sidhra Golf Course to 18-holes.

            Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of State for Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani, Principal Secretaries, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretaries, Atal Duloo and Shant Manu, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal, Directors of Tourism, Kashmir and Jammu divisions, Farooq Ahmad Shah and R. S. Mehta and other senior officers were present in the meeting.

            The non-official members of the Governing Body S. S. Bloeria, S. S. Wazir, Najam-us-Saqib, A. M. Watali and Amrik Singh also participated in the meeting which among other things discussed the matters relating to the formation of rules and regulations of the Golf Course.

            The Chief Minister said that in order to manage the affairs of all the Golf Courses in the State holistically and showcase this sports facility internationally, the constitution of Golf Management Authority is in offing.
