Srinagar,May 12 – Lauding the role of IAF in safeguarding the boundaries of the nation, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appreciated its role in providing assistance to civilians in times of crisis, adding that the role of IAF in helping people of inaccessible and snow-bound areas, especially during winter season when most of these areas remain cut off due to heavy snowfall, cannot be ignored.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah interacted with the officers of the Indian Air Force (IAF) during an informal visit to the Air Force Station,in Srinagar on Tuesday. Mr. Abdullah also interacted with the families of the IAF officers and posed for group photos
Air Officer Commander, Srinagar Air Force Station, Ramesh Goyal and Wing Commander, K. S. Gill introduced the Chief Minister with the officers of the IAF. They apprised him about the functioning of IAF and introduction of latest fighter jets in its armory.
The Chief Minister also witnessed an air-show by IAF pilots flying MIG-21, Mirage 2000 and Sukhoi 30 fighter-planes.
Earlier, a warm welcome was given to Mr. Abdullah on his arrival at the venue. A memento was also presented to him by Mr. Goyal on the occasion.
