Srinagar,July 20 (Scoop News) – Crediting Jammu and Kashmir Police for bringing peace in the state, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani has said that the force has a pivotal role to play in maintaining lasting peace and order in the State.
The Minister was speaking at Attestation-cum-Passing Out Parade at Commando Training Centre (CTC), Lethpoa Pulwama in South Kashmir today. He said that JKP is fully geared up to face the challenges and the force has successfully dealt various challenges after giving supreme sacrifices of its brave jawans and officers. JKP has acquired acclaim at national level for its prime role in restoring peace in the State and the force has to increase its proficiency at various fronts of policing to strengthen the image of the Organization, the minister said.
Appreciating the efforts of DGP and other professional police officers, the Minister said that they have taken extra pains in imparting training to the recruits and he was much impressed to witness the performance of these recruits on the passing out parade. He stressed for strengthening training skills of police personnel to face the new challenges and said that the training courses should be oriented to tackle the cyber crimes and the latest techniques of criminals.
Nasir said that the training imparted to the recruits in handling and operating the latest equipments would help them in curbing the activities of the criminals. He asked the outgoing recruits to adopt people friendly behaviour while performing in the field as the police is first responder to any situation caused due to natural or man made calamities.
The Minister asked the pass outs to keep the oath they have taken at the parade and make public service their sole motto. He said that police service is a noble service which remains always on forefront for the safety and security of the people and their properties. Men in khaki working in field are the real representatives of the force, who can build the image of the Organization among the masses by providing justice, said Nasir.
Referring to the demands put forth by the authorities for strengthening the infrastructure of the Training Institution, he assured that the training centre would be recognised as a full-fledged training institution and all required infrastructure and staff would be provided for its up-gradation. He also assured that the state government would provide every support to the department, for bringing all its training institutions on modern lines.
In his welcome address, the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar said that the Training Centre was primarily established in 2006 for imparting training in various modern disciplines including Commando Training to the cops for enhancing their abilities to deal with the security situations. He said that 937 recruits have undergone basic training with special emphasis on commando and tactics in the institution. During the period the recruits have been deployed for law and order duties which benefited them to develop vigour and aptitude at the time of crisis.
Rajendra said that Jammu and Kashmir Police having six Training Institutions across the State and a Police Academy at Udhampur is emphasising upon training in various areas like counter insurgency, crime detection and investigation. The institutions train the police personnel in sophisticated technology to dovetail into crime network. Besides, several specialized training courses are conducted in other fields including respect towards human rights, cyber crime, crowd controlling by using minimum force and VIP security in the prestigious Sheri-i-Kashmir Police Academy in Udhampur.
The DGP also thanked the State government for their support in strengthening the infrastructure of the Organization by providing liberal assistance. He said that it was due to this support that the man power and the building infrastructure has been increased in every district of the State. He assured that the force would come up to the expectations of people and the government.
Rajendra also threw light on the working of the Training institutions being run by the Organization in the State. He said that the Organization has started many advanced training courses in these institutions and in the future our institutions would be able to impart training in these fields to the personnel of various forces of other States. He thanked the Minister for sparing his valuable time for gracing the function which has encouraged the organisation to move forward.
Earlier, the Principal of the Centre, Sanjiv Kumar Khajuria gave an oath to recruit constables, who completed their rigorous basic training course in the Centre. He also threw light on the major activities of the Centre which included special guest lecturers on disaster management, respect of human rights, fire fighting, VIP security, bomb disposal and investigation skills.
On the occasion, recruit constable Jehangir Ahmed Darzi No. 1145/Kup was declared all round best trainee and was given one rank promotion as Selection Grade Constable on the spot. Other trainees who performed extra ordinary during the training period, including Bilal Ahmed No: 1381/Bud, Nazir Ahmed No: 995/Kup, Parvaiz Ahmed No: 708/Bpr and Safeer Ahmed No: 1057/Kup were also given cash rewards by the Minister.
Among other, the function was attended by ADsGP, Dr. Ram Lubhaya and Dr. S. P. Vaid, IsGP, S. M. Sahai, Rauf-ul-Hassan, A. G. Mir, M. Sulaiman Salaria, K. K.Saini, Yoginder Koul and A. Q. Manhas, DIsGP, T. Namgiyal, Rajinder Prasad Resutra, N. D. Wani, Vijay Kumar, Abdul Hamid, M. M. Sadiq and Shakeel Ahmed Beig, AIG (personnel), Ghulam, Hassan Bhat, Staff Officer to ADG (Armed), Ashok Kumar Sharma and Commandants of Armed and IRP battalions.
