Jodi Applegate, the TV journalist who has anchored Fox 5 New York’s Good Day New York program since 2005 will be replaced by veteran anchor Rosanna Scotto the station announced this weekend.
Rosanna Scotto has been with Fox 5 for 22 years and is the long-standing anchor of the station’s 10 p.m. newscast. By moving her to the early morning slot, the station hopes to boost sluggish ratings and revitalize its morning program with a time-tested host. Rosanna Scotto is also happy with the move because now she’ll be able to devote more evenings to her family.
Jodi Applegate has weathered a number of format changes on Good Day New York in efforts to make Good Day New York a viable competitor with national shows like "Today" and "Good Morning America." The station decided to not renew her contract to find out if it was Applegate herself that was negatively affecting ratings.
Rosanna Scotto is slated to replace Jodi Applegate as early as this week. You can see Good Day New York from 7-9 a.m., weekdays on Fox 5.
