Joe ‘The Plumber’ Wurzelbacher Dominates Presidential Debate

Who is Joe Wurzelbacher?

If you don’t already know the name, you will soon.

In tonight’s final presidential debate, Senators Barack Obama and John McCain referred to ‘Joe the plumber’ no less than 26 times.  Given far-reaching issues of global economic downturn, energy crisis and resolving healthcare for 300 million Americans, it was unusual that one man should garner so much attention.  So what makes Joe Wurzelbacher so special?

In a FOX News clip available here, 34-year-old Joe Wurzelbacher interrogates Obama on his policy, saying it won’t support his purchase of a plumbing company.  Wurzelbacher says Obama’s response, which is not presented in the clip, smacks of ‘socialism.’

‘Joe the plumber’  may be John McCain’s last hope, representing what he portrays as a man whose quest for the American dream will be crushed by Obama’s tax policies.

Obama stated in the debate that his plan would only tax incomes over $250,000, after taxes.
