John Edwards who had finished third in South Carolina, the state that he was born in and won back in 2004 made a vow to continue his campaign. At least continue through the campaign until February 5, Super Tuesday.
After he joined Hillary Clinton in congratulating Barack Obama on his victory, Edwards made confirmation of his intentions to press on with his campaign.
“Now the three of us move on to February 5th,” John Edwards said making his declaration a speech that lasted for five minutes. He had created an eruption of cheers amongst hundreds inside Jillian’s Nightclub.
Next week, Edwards’ schedule will go through Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma, Minnesota, North Dakota, with the last stop in California. According to Joe Trippi, senior adviser to the Edwards campaign, Edwards is in a strong enough position to win delegates in at least some of those Super Tuesday states.
“In Oklahoma, we’re doing much better there than we did here; Obama’s not doing well in Oklahoma at all,” Trippi explained. He finished by saying: “Missouri, we were in the 20s. I mean there’s a whole bunch of states already with public polls out for February 5th where we’re doing stronger than we did here.”
