McCain said that this was what a real comeback looked like in an interview with the Associated Press. He was savoring his triumph in the New Hampshire primaries. John McCain said: “We’re going to move on to Michigan and South Carolina and win the nomination.”
He won the victory in New Hampshire due to a wave from the independent voters to defeat US Republican rival Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts. This was a damaging blow to Mitt Romney, who had spent millions of his own money in hopes of winning the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary.
Romney had placed second in both contests. Former governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee won first place in the Republican Iowa caucuses.
On the Democratic side, Barack Obama took the Iowa win while Hillary Clinton came in at third place. However, Hillary presented a stiff challenge to Barack Obama in the nation’s first primary.
It is possible that Hillary Clinton could be defeated again by Barack Obama in New Hampshire. According to officials, her aides are thinking about effectively conceding for the next two contests, the Nevada caucuses on January 19 and the South Carolina primary a week later.
Back on the Republican side of things, the next destination for the Republican race is Michigan. Both McCain and Romney are both already advertising on television. Both men have appearances planned on Wednesday.
More independents voted in the Democratic race than the Republican race. This was from a survey conducted by The Associated Press.
In the case of McCain, this was a much needed victory. While McCain was thought to be the front runner, he suffered through a political experience that was near-death. His fundraising and support infrastructure had collapsed.
