The body of missing Fort Bragg soldier Holley Wimunc, 24, has been found and her estranged husband charged in her murder. John Wimunc, 23, had already been charged in the arson that burned down Holley Wimunc’s apartment on Thursday July 10, 2008 and now faces first-degree murder, first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit first-degree arson charges.
Authorities found Holley Wimunc’s body in a shallow grave on Sunday July 13 in a nearby wooded area. Holley had been a missing person since her apartment fire on the 10th.
Holley Wimunc had issued a restraining order against John when their marriage became troubled and violent. John Wimunc is a Marine Cpl. stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
Also charged felony accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit first-degree arson was fellow Camp Lejeune Marine Lance Cpl. Kyle Ryan Alden. Both men are currently at Cumberland County Detention Center in Fayetteville and are being held without bail.
Holley Wimunc leaves behind two young children.
