New Belgium Brewing, maker of Fat Tire Amber Ale, today announced that it is the beer sponsor for “Filmed by Bike” in Portland, Oregon from Friday, April 13 through Wednesday, April 18. New Belgium is also host of the New Belgium Street Party on opening night, celebrating bikes, beer, cinema and the community.
This is the tenth anniversary of Filmed by Bike (filmedbybike.org/), a film festival featuring bike-themed movies from around the world. The Filmed by Bike jury selected 75 movies this year, curating their selections into six different programs that run across 13 show times in five days.
The opening night on Friday, April 13 features the New Belgium Street Party, a Speed Raffle presented by Sock Dreams with more than $2,000 in prizes, a beer garden in the middle of Clinton Street, DJ beyondadoubt, break dancers, entertainers and more. The Street Party is free, but attendees must be at least 21.
If you want to bike to the kickoff events, mountain bike legend Gary Fisher and Portland Bicycle Tours will lead a ride that winds through Downtown Portland and across the river to Clinton Street. Social hour begins at 4:00 p.m. at Downtown Bike Gallery, 1001 SW 10th Ave., and the ride leaves at 6:00 p.m.
“A beer garden, live music, great films, bikes and friends; need I say more?” asks Todd Gilman, Field Brander with New Belgium Brewing. “Ten years in the making, this event is sure to be a grand time; ride your bike on over and join us!”
A limited number of tickets are available online at http://filmedbybike.org/. When those sell out, additional tickets will be available at the door while supplies last. Don’t forget to ride your bike, bring cash and your ID. Bike parking is available at Laughing Planet Café.
