Jora lauds Ladakhi students for preserving their traditional culture

Jammu, January 19(Scoop News) – J&K Minister Nawan Rigzin Jora while congratulating All Ladakh Students Association Jammu for preserving their rich traditional cultural values despite living at Jammu, observed that the manner in which the students depicted their talent in performing various cultural programmes, it seemed that Ladakhi culture exists here.

The Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies,  Nawan Rigzin Jora who was the Chief Guest addressing the annual function organized by the All Ladakh Students Association Jammu at Zorawar Singh Auditorium University Camps, Jammu. Lauding the mesmerizing performance by the students, the Minister said that every religion teaches peace, tranquillity, truthfulness, honesty, brotherhood and communal harmony and Ladakh region noted for its diverse religious setup is a candid example.

He said that the students of Ladakh have done a remarkable job and presently a number of students of Ladakh are studying and working at AIMS, IITs, IIMs and other prestigious Institutions of the Country. He paid tributes to the parents of those students who despite meagre source of income provided opportunities to their wards in getting high quality education.

Referring to various demands of the Association, like opening of JKPSC and SSRB suboffices in Ladakh, the Minister said that this matter will be taken up with the Chief Minister. Regarding reserving of seats for Ladakhi Students in MA and MSC, he said that he will talk to Vice Chancellor of Jammu Univesity. .He said that foundation stone of Kashmir Univesity Camps at Ladakh has already been laid with the estimated cost of Rs.25 crores and assured the camps would be functional soon.

Responding to other demands like opening of B.Ed Colleges in Ladakh, construction of Boys Hostel in Jammu, introduction of higher streams in Ladakh Higher Secondary Schools and providing of scholarships to the students of Ladakh,the Minister said that he will take up these issues at proper forums for consideration.

Later, the Minister awarded IAS officer, Owaisa Iqbal of Ladakh for her excellent achievement.

Chairman Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council,Kargil Kachu Ahmed Khan also spoke on the occasion.
