23 years to the day after 13 year-old David Reed left his house on his bicycle never to return, Joseph Geiger was arrested on Thursday, adding another chapter to this murder mystery.
David Reed left his home in Schuylkill Haven, PA on August 21, 1985 and wasn’t seen again until his partially decomposed body was found months later. Police didn’t consider his death a murder until they reopened the case this January with new evidence. "We got him," said Pennsylvania State Police Sgt. Craig Stine.
Prosecutors now believe that Joseph Geiger attacked the boy over a dispute about marijuana. An affidavit, police say that Geiger, 20 at the time, punched David Reed in the face, causing Reed to fall against a wall and possibly break the back of his skull.
Joseph Geiger denies and involvement in David Reed’s death.
