Journalist sought suo moto action by Chief Justice of Pakistan in death of his young son


PESHAWAR: A local journalist of district Chitral on Monday appealed to Supreme Court of Pakistan to take sue-muto action against those doctors who allegedly not properly treated his son and due to their negligence his son has died.
He also demanded of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, provincial health minister and Pakistan Medical Dental Council (PMDC) to cancel the licenses of the allegedly involved doctors in the incident.
Addressing a news conference here at press club, Gul Ahmad Farooqi said that his son Muhammad Farhan, 13, had appendicitis disease and on last 29 July he took his son to Naseerullah Khan Babar Memorial Hospital wherein the doctors after checking up the patient, prescribed that his son had no serious disease. �The next day my beloved son once again felt pain and I took him to the city big Leady Reading Hospital (LRH) wherein my son referred to surgical ward but the doctors after x-rays once again unheeded my son� he alleged.
The bereaved father further said that his son on that night had felt severe pain and faced difficulty in urine while he (Gul Ahmed) carried his son to the LRH but the result was the same and the doctors prescribed a five days medicine dose to his son.
�On 2nd August I carried my son to Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) wherein doctor after checked up my son told that his son�s appendicitis disease has crass the extreme limit and admitted my son in surgical ward. A doctor has ensured me that he (doctor) must do operation of his son but that doctor even not checked up my son� he lamented.
Despite facing the serious disease, he said neither a senior doctor nor a consultant had done his son operation and in evening time junior doctors done his son operation which had remained unsuccessful. �The next day on 3rd August after the failed operation by the hospital Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs), my son was referred to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward of Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) wherein my son died� he regretted.
�I demanded of the HMC doctors to hand over me the patient file, chart, admission slip and other related documents but the doctors reluctant to give me and are trying to make changes in the original record and hide their blunders� he alleged.
He added that he had moved to the Station House Officers (SHOs) of the in the jurisdiction of the concerned hospitals to lodge First Information Report (FIR) while also submitted applications in written form to Chief Minister complaint cell and Inspector General of Police (IGP) for awarding punishment to the responsible persons but no action had been taken.
