Bernann McKinney made headlines when she had her beloved late pit bull, Booger, cloned into five puppies in South Korea. When people saw pictures of her kissing her lovable cloned puppies, however, they recognized her as Joyce McKinney, a former beauty queen whose obsession with a man in the 1970s led to criminal charges against her.
Joyce McKinney was charged in a British court with false imprisonment after she kidnapped Kirk Anderson, held him captive in an English cottage and made him perform sexual acts on her. Before too long Kirk Anderson agreed to marry Joyce McKinney, and escaped when she loosed the chains with which she had bound him to the bed.
In a quote that delighted tabloid readers, during her 1979 trial, Joyce McKinney said that she "would ski naked down Mount Everest with a carnation up my nose if [Kirk Anderson] asked me to."
Dog cloner Bernann McKinney denies that she is the Joyce McKinney who achieved infamy in the 1970s.
