Islamabad: Two different notifications for the restoration of judges were issued here today.
The Federal Secretary of Law held a press briefing where he told the media about the notifications.
The Chief justice of Pakistan, Chaudhary Iftikhar and other deposed judges do not need to take fresh oath.
The issue of the deposed judges by the former military dictator, General Musharraf has triggered violent protest across the country.
The lawyers, politicians and civil society staged protest rallies against the illegitimate decision of Pervaiz Musharraf and at last the military dictator had to resign from his office.
The new democratic setup came into being as a result of the coalitions of two main parties, Pakistan Peoples’ Party and Pakistan Muslim League (N).
From the very first day, the ruling group pledged to reinstate the deposed judges but with the passage of time, the things started changing and Pakistan People’s Party seemed reluctant of the decision.
Then Pakistan Muslim League (N) separated from the ruling group and supported the lawyers’ movement.
Later on, they gave a call of long march and sit-in at Islamabad and the things worsened and at one point Pakistan seemed on the verge of a strange situation, the economic, security and now the political crisis.
The pressure was mounting on President Zardari and Premier Yousuf Raza Gillani, from the lawyers, politicians and civil society, moreover, media played a vital role and the government compelled to reinstate the judges.
The United States and other western countries welcomed the decision and termed it a historical moment for Pakistan.
